Frederick J. Lepley Jr.

Mr. Lepley has conducted over 100 criminal and civil jury trials during his 25-year career. He has secured not-guilty trial verdicts for his clients on charges ranging from capital felonies (where his clients faced life in prison) to misdemeanors such as drunken driving and assault and battery. In the last several months alone, he has won trials involving charges of criminal sexual conduct first degree and domestic violence.
Mr. Lepley has worked in the public sector as an assistant prosecutor and in the private sector for large and small law firms. His broad range of experience gives him a unique perspective on handling and trying cases — whether they involve criminal law, family law or civil litigation.

Joshua P. Rubin

Joshua P. Rubin was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan, where he attended Port Huron Area Schools. After graduating from Port Huron Northern High School in 1996, Josh attended Michigan State University where he graduated, with Honors, from the School of Criminal Justice in 2000. Immediately after graduating from MSU, Josh began his law school education at the Michigan State University College of Law where he earned several academic awards including the prestigious Dean Charles H. King full-ride scholarship as well as book awards (highest grade) in five of his first-year law classes. While at law school, Josh also served as a senior editor on the MSU Law Review, clerked for a U.S. District Court Judge, interned at Lakeshore Legal Aid and worked as a summer associate at Dykema Gossett, a leading national law firm in Detroit, Michigan. In 2003, Josh graduated, summa cum laude, from MSU Law at the top of his law school class.
After graduating from MSU Law, Josh returned to his hometown of Port Huron to build the foundation for his private law practice. After working as an associate attorney at a small Port Huron law firm, Josh joined his current firm of Bales Lepley and Rubin as a partner in 2005. Since then, Josh has focused his practice on criminal defense, family and custody matters, probation violations, juvenile delinquency petitions, driver’s license restoration and landlord/tenant disputes.
Josh has a tremendous and profound respect for the privilege and responsibility that goes along with practicing law. Josh does not believe in blowing smoke. Thomas M. Bales

Thomas M. Bales was born and raised in Port Huron, Mich., and attended Port Huron area schools. Mr. Bales received a degree in Legal and Political Philosophy with honors from the College of James Madison at Michigan State University. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit in 1991 while working at National Labor Relations Board in Detroit, Mich.
From 1992 to 1998, Mr. Bales worked as Corporate Counsel for Seligman and Associates in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He was also the Vice President of Operations of Scott Management, a subsidiary of Seligman and Associates.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Bales worked as Corporate Counsel of The Fourmidable Group in Farmington Hills, Mich.
Mr. Bales currently specializes in criminal, family, and juvenile. He also specializes in driver license restoration, wills, and landlord/tenant cases.
